May snowstorms are discouraging, but they make interesting entries. On this date in 1966, a three-day spell of snow amounted to nearly 6 inches in Newport, VT, and a whopping 11 inches in Peru, VT. Burlington's 3.5 inches was the most recorded there so late in the season.
